Obviously Facebook has to make money. And obviously it does this with advertisements. I’m curious at what point do they want to protect their users from stupid & or misleading ads*? Like this one…

I rarely click on the ads but I wanted to see if in fact I have a higher IQ than Tom Cruise. I like IQ & News tests so I figured this would be interesting. The questions were pretty boring – ranging from how many degrees are in a circle to which color listed is not a primary color.
I get to the end of the test, question 10 of 10, answer it & assume I’ll get to see if I’m smarter than Maverick. A little to my surprise the website now wants me to enter in my cell phone number so it can text me the results. I’m sure as shit not going to give some random site my cell phone number so I started looking at the “fine print” at the bottom of the page. And it turns out that whoever is running this site are assholes! Surprise, Surprise.

By submitting my phone number, I’m authorizing this jerkasses to charge me $9.99 a month to pipe in bullshit stuff to my phone. While I concede this is neither new, nor news, nor something I shouldn’t have expected, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s the lowest of the low in terms of “services provided”.
In conclusion, fuck you myquiz.com. Your entire business model is centered around preying on people’s ignorance. Sneaky I suppose… Sneaky in the same way that playing hide-&-seek with a 2-year-old is sneaky. Sneaky in the way that distracting your cat with a laser beam is sneaky. What’s my point? It’s not fucking sneaky. It’s just being an ass. So congratulations on perfecting the ass business model.
*I know you can click & say it’s a bad ad, but why not just not show them in the first place?
